Youth Wrestling Guide This is a great guide to youth wrestling!!

Introduction - 2009/10

Welcome to the Salida Wildcat Wrestling Information page!

Our parent/wrestler meeting is Tuesday, DECEMBER 15th, 2009 at 7pm in the cafeteria. Plan on being there!!

This is our 10th year as a sport at Salida MIddle School. We encourage all parents and students to visit all the links above and come to our meeting. We will discuss everything about our sport at that meeting as well as show a highlight video from last year.

We have an all-girls team as well as our boys team. The girls will only wrestle girls from other schools (unless otherwise stated by parents), 2 other schools (Somerset, Savage) that we regularly wrestle are also have girls' teams and other schools have girls on their teams. For more information about schools in our area, click here

During this wrestling season, your son or daughter will learn a great deal about the art of wrestling. They will learn how to maintain balance while moving forwards, backwards, and sideways. They will learn how to setup, execute, and finish moves. They will learn techniques and strategies that will help win matches. They will improve their coordination, increase endurance, and become stronger.

To be a good wrestler, an athlete must not only be physically tough, but mentally tough. During a match, a wrestler cannot rely on anything or anyone else; it is just one-on-one. The skills and self-discipline that wrestlers develop through wrestling will be invaluable in the years to come.

We look forward to seeing you!
